The European Commission president cancels engagements, including the Polish EU presidency inauguration on Friday.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has canceled several engagements in the coming days after contracting pneumonia.
Her illness was confirmed by a Commission spokesperson on Friday, adding that she would not be attending the inauguration of the Polish EU presidency on Friday evening.
“She is suffering from pneumonia. As a result, she has canceled some engagements for the first two weeks of January,” said European Commission spokesperson Stefan de Keersmaecker.
