British prime minister hits back after days of criticism from the X owner and Trump ally.
LONDON — Keir Starmer tore into Elon Musk Monday, as the U.K. prime minister forcefully stood by his record sticking up for the victims of child sexual exploitation.
The U.K. prime minister said he had tackled the “utterly sickening” crime “head on” as director of public prosecutions (DPP) — and appeared to accuse Musk, who in recent days boosted a jailed far-right activist known as Tommy Robinson, for “spreading lies and misinformation.”
Starmer told reporters at a press conference in Surrey: “Those that are spreading lies and misinformation as far and as wide as possible, they are not interested in victims, they are interested in themselves.”
And he warned that people “who are cheerleading Tommy Robinson are not interested in justice, they are supporting a man who went to prison for nearly collapsing a grooming case, a gang grooming case.”
Musk, owner of the X platform and a key Donald Trump ally, has spent days attacking Starmer’s stint as DPP.
He has branded Starmer “complicit in the RAPE OF BRITAIN” — and even called for him to be jailed — as figures on the right of British politics, including opposition Tory Leader Kemi Badenoch, claim state inaction against South Asian perpetrators of abuse.
