Reform UK leader is a longstanding ally of the incoming US president.
LONDON — Donald Trump’s top U.K. ally Nigel Farage will attend the incoming U.S. president’s inauguration, despite a public spat with Trump pick Elon Musk.
Reform U.K. confirmed Tuesday that Farage — who leads the right-wing populist party — will be present at Trump’s second inauguration as president on January 20.
Farage is a longstanding ally of Trump, having first lent his support during the 2016 presidential campaign. He endorsed Trump again in both 2020 and 2024.
Trump described the Reform U.K. boss as “handsome” during a rally last year, and has given rare interviews on British television to Farage’s GB News program. Farage also attended Trump’s inauguration in 2016.
Speaking on LBC Tuesday, Farage said he will be in the U.S. for four or five days over the inauguration — and that while there he intends to speak with billionaire Trump ally Elon Musk, after a fall-out sparked by their differing views on the far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Farage insisted too that Trump will remain his ally, despite his war of words with Musk.
“I’ve been a friend of Donald Trump’s for a decade, I’ve been very supportive of him, he’s been very supportive of me,” Farage said.
“I can’t see that changing for a moment,” he added.
The U.K. government is yet to confirm who will attend the inauguration on its behalf, though typically Britain’s ambassador to the U.S. — currently Karen Pierce while Peter Mandelson waits in the wings to take over — would attend for the British government.
